A Fine Mongolian gilt bronze figure of the Buddha, Zanabazar school, 18th Century, seated in the lotus position on a waisted lotus plinth; his right hand is in the Earth-touching gesture while the left lies upright in the lap. The slender face expresses an intense serene power, and is painted in cold colours, as is the blue hair. The figure remains sealed with the original copper plate inside the base, as when first dedicated.
